About us

A Putney operator. For the SW London riverside catchment we know.

Putney Removals is a SW-London-based international removals firm covering the riverside catchment from Putney Heath through to Wandsworth, Barnes, the Fulham edge, and the Wimbledon edge. We move banking and tech professionals to Paris, Milan, Madrid, Lisbon. We move pre-children couples to Provence and the Italian lakes. We move school-age families to Cascais and the Spanish capitals. We move pre-retirement professionals to Florence, Rome, the Côte d\'Azur, the Portuguese coast.

Why Putney

A SW-London firm. Not a national chain with a SW15 listing.

Putney is its own place. The Thames at Putney Bridge, the rowing-club community, the Victorian and Edwardian mansion-flat stock along the Embankment, the village of Barnes across the river, the heath beyond. The SW London riverside catchment has a demographic register that differs from the SE London corridor (Bromley, Bexley, Peckham), from East London (Romford), from NW London (Pinner), from the broader cosmopolitan London register that Removals London Moving covers.

Our customers are affluent professional couples and families — banking, finance, tech, design, architecture, academia — making considered international moves. Career-driven moves to Paris, Milan, Madrid, Lisbon. Pre-school family lifestyle moves to Provence, the Italian lakes, the Cascais coast. School-age family relocations timed to international-school calendars. Pre-retirement professionals making the move to Florence, Rome, the Côte d\'Azur, the Portuguese coast while still working part-time.

We are not the right firm for the Costa del Sol retirement pipeline (Removals Manchester runs that specialism), the rural-Dordogne smallholding move (Removals Somerset and Removals Sevenoaks know that territory), or the East-London working-family community-roots return (Removals Romford has that catchment). We are the right firm for the SW-London-riverside affluent professional family making a considered international move. Honest specialism.

How we work

Four principles. Considered, not corporate.

Written quotes hold

The price is set in writing after the survey. It does not move upward unless the scope materially changes. If your inventory grows by a wardrobe of clothes that is not a requote; if a study room of books appears that was not in the survey, that is. Material means material. No bait-and-switch. No moving-day surprises.

Same crew door to door

The vehicle that loads at your Putney property is the vehicle that arrives at the destination. The crew that packs is the crew that unloads. No third-party hand-offs at the Channel or at a continental depot. The practical assurance that matters when the consignment includes high-value items, artwork, or instruments.

Considered, not salesmanship

The survey is a conversation, not a pitch. We assume you have done some research already and we do not over-explain the basics. We say what we know honestly — including which sister sites are better-shaped for moves that do not fit our specialism. Confident without being corporate; warm without being casual.

Honest about specialism

Four corridors — France, Italy, Spain, Portugal — run well. We do not pretend to specialise in Germany, the Netherlands, or anywhere else. If your move is outside our corridor we refer to a sister network firm honestly. If your move is to the Costa del Sol, rural Tuscany, or the East-London community-roots corridor, we say so — those are better served elsewhere on the network.

What we are not

The honest no-list.

We are not premium-positioned. We do not use "bespoke", "concierge", "private client", or any of the other premium-framing vocabulary. We are considered and practical.

We are not budget-positioned either. We do not undercut by skipping the work. The written quote reflects the actual cost of running the corridor properly — same crew door to door, customs filings, depot storage where the destination property completion slips, destination-side shuttle vehicles where access requires.

We are not a Costa del Sol retirement pipeline. That specialism belongs to Removals Manchester. If your move is to Marbella, Estepona, Fuengirola, we refer honestly at survey.

We are not a rural-Europe specialist. Dordogne smallholding, rural Tuscany villa restoration, Alentejo inland Portugal — those are better-shaped at Removals Somerset, Removals Sevenoaks, and UK Portugal Removals. We focus on the cosmopolitan-Europe move from SW London.

We do not transport pets. Different regulatory regime, different vehicle. Specialist pet-transport firms do that work; we refer to them.

We do not give tax or visa advice. We tell you what residency-evidence pack the customs side needs. For French long-stay rules, Italian visa schemes, Spanish non-lucrative visas, Portuguese D7 / D8 — talk to an immigration specialist and a UK-and-destination tax adviser. We will not pretend to be either.

If your move is one we run, talk to us.

A first conversation tells us whether we are the right firm for your move. If we are not, we say so — and refer to the sister network site that fits.
